Lee's Family Restaurant, Hwy 30, Grand Island, NE

Grand Island was plotted by the Union Pacific Railroad in 1866, and derived its name from a landmark, 40-mile-long island on the multi-channel Platte River. The early success as a hub of railroad activity secured the city and continued early growth and development.

Just to the North of the Farmer’s Daughter, we find the magn
ificent Grand Theatre.  The finial owners closed the building in 2002 and voiced their decision to donate the theatre to a non profit organization

A small group of dedicated business owners banded together to form "The Grand Foundation, Inc." to save the last surviving movie palace in Grand Island, lovingly called the “Miracle on 3rd Street”.

Pride for the success of this project and the many hours of volunteered labor it represents, welcomes the locals and visitors, alike. The home town hospitality of these warm hearted folks invites you to their delightful shops and dining establishments housed in the historic buildings lining 3rd street.
